Bio

Nathan Burd is an at-large member of Reynoldsburg City Council, a small business owner, the former deputy director of the Franklin County Board of Elections, and the Republican nominee for the 20th District in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Nathan Burd City CouncilDuring his term on council, Nathan has been a member of the Safety and Community Development Committees and has served as the vice chairman of the Service Committee. Perhaps most notably, Nathan stood against a recent effort to impose a large income tax increase on the city’s workers and businesses. Nathan spoke against the proposal and offered alternative solutions during council meetings and at community forums. The voters of Reynoldsburg ultimately defeated the tax increase. In January, Nathan was appointed to be the President Pro Tempore of City Council as well as the Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee.

After graduating from The Ohio State University in 2000, Nathan spent the next three years as Legislative Aide in the Ohio House of Representatives, serving constituents and assisting with the passage of legislation on a wide-range of issues. Following his service in the Ohio House, Nathan spent four years working for a large nonprofit association of pregnancy resource centers and adoption agencies.

Nathan and his familyIn 2006, Nathan and his wife Jolene started FlyComm, Inc., a graphic design and print communications business. Over the last six years, FlyComm has assisted dozens of clients in the corporate, political, and nonprofit sectors. In 2011, Nathan received a master’s degree in organizational management from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Nathan also served as the Deputy Director of the Franklin County Board of Elections in 2011, co-managing a large bipartisan staff and overseeing all aspects of elections administration. He resigned from this position in December in order to launch his campaign for Ohio’s 20th House District.

Nathan’s previous experience in the Ohio House will allow him to hit the ground running if elected in the 20th District. His public and private sector experience will serve him well as he addresses the issues facing Ohio’s businesses, taxpayers, families, and local governments.

Nathan and Jolene have a young son named Noah and are expecting their second child in May. They attend Vineyard Christian Church, where Nathan’s brother Brian serves as the senior pastor.
