Jobs and the Economy

Priority #1 is clearly to get Ohio’s economy moving again. While we’ve seen signs of improvement over the last year, much work remains to be done to address high unemployment and to continue to strengthen Ohio’s economic environment. Nathan Burd’s priority at the Statehouse will be to push for policies that will encourage businesses to grow and locate in Ohio. A reduction of burdensome government regulations, a revamping of our workforce development programs, and the pursuit of pro-growth policies will provide more job opportunities for our citizens.  

Taxes and Spending

Nathan Burd has strongly opposed tax increases as a city councilman. He’ll take his conservative approach to fiscal matters and his respect for the taxpayers to the Statehouse. The overall tax burden facing Ohioans is too high and Nathan Burd can be trusted to fight for lower taxes as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. Government has a moral duty not to overspend and not to mismanage the tax dollars received from our citizens. Nathan Burd will insist on responsible budgets that will set clear priorities and reduce waste and inefficiency.

Education

Perhaps no issue is as important for Ohio’s future than making sure our children receive a quality education that will prepare for them success. Nathan Burd is a strong supporter of expanding school choice and giving parents access to the best educational environment for their children. Charter schools, private schools, e-schools, and home schooling are all great options for parents and students to consider. At the same time, strengthening our public schools must always be an area of focus. Nathan Burd spent two years tutoring in an inner-city elementary school and is committed to making sure that students in our public schools receive the high quality education they deserve. 

Values

Nathan Burd is driven by the fundamental belief that every human life has value and dignity. As a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, he will work to uphold family values and individual liberties. The words of our Declaration of Independence have not lost their significance and they never will: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Ethical Leadership and Honest Debate

Unfortunately, some elected officials have failed to conduct themselves in a way that dignifies the office they hold. As a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, Nathan Burd will lead with integrity and will never neglect the significant responsibilities that come with serving his constituents. He will insist on honest debate that focuses on the facts and tones down the hyper-charged rhetoric that often leads to nowhere. The people of Ohio deserve ethical leadership, honest debate, and a commitment to solving the problems we face.
