Reynoldsburg City Councilman Nathan Burd has resigned from his position as deputy director of the Franklin County Board of Elections in order to campaign for a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives in the March 6 primary.
Burd, a Republican, stepped down from the elections board post Dec. 7 to focus on his run for the 20th District seat.
The newly formed 20th District is located in the southeastern corner of Franklin County, covering Jefferson Township through Reynoldsburg and down to the southern edge of the county.

Franklin County Republicans have tapped the deputy director of the Franklin County Board of Elections to run for an open seat in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Nathan Burd, 34, announced yesterday that he will step down from the elections board Wednesday to run in the newly formed 20th District in the southeastern corner of the county. Burd was endorsed by county Republicans last week.
“It was a tough decision, but one I made after I was screened by the party and they endorsed me last Monday night,” Burd said. “I really enjoy policymaking and want to be involved in that, and as an at-large city councilman in Reynoldsburg I believe I have the necessary experience."
